Workshop Media’s Jon Bailey takes a look at some of the quirks, annoyances and pet peeves of the Christmas Season in Workshop’s Christmas Humbugs!
This is an obvious one. Christmas is, or should be, a short period at the end of the year, a way to blow off steam, eat and drink too much and have some fun in the company of friends and family. It should not start in the middle of October. Shops seem to kick off the Christmas period earlier and earlier every year, with decorations, special offers and ‘Gift Ideas’ sneaking in before Halloween is even over. That’s just not right.
Christmas loses its appeal if it goes on that long and the day itself becomes a major anti-climax. Once Christmas dinner is done, you are left with the conflicting feelings of being stuffed to the gills on turkey and veg, and emotionally empty, wondering how it could be over so quickly.
