Content Marketing in Brief
You may have noticed that I have been busy scribbling away at various different blog posts covering topics about content marketing. Its not that I have been struck with inspiration but rather following a very particular content marketing plan.
(Yes there is a flow chart)
I have always been fascinated with the various clever ways that creating content can drive traffic, sales and brand; as Workshop Media is in the business of video marketing, a particular strand of content marketing, it made sense to pull together all the different strategies that I have been collecting over the past few years and put together a plan.
Content Marketing is:
“an umbrella term encompassing all marketing formats that involve the creation or sharing of content for the purpose of engaging current and potential consumer bases. Content marketing subscribes to the notion that delivering high-quality, relevant and valuable information to prospects and customers drives profitable consumer action. Content marketing has benefits in terms of retaining reader attention and improving brand loyalty.”
By providing content based around certain keywords, we help to optimise our site to appear in search engines, by creating interest content we encourage links and return views, by providing relevant content we educate the people on our site and turn them from readers to buyers.
My first goal has been to promote the name of Workshop Media, get ‘bums on seats’ in terms of website traffic and show people what it is we do. My specified target for this has been 500 hits, per month, on the website for the first 3 months. It is important to set a target to measure whether or not the plan is a success.
I can appreciate the irony of posting content about content but I’d like to share the results with you, after one week of the website going live:
Views (bums on seats): 256
Avg Time on Site (boredom factor): 8mins 52secs
Bounce Rate (visits leaving the site from the same page they landed): 41.80%
% Change (… change in percentage): 1,405.88%
If this continues as is, after one month we should have 1,024 views. Which means we are well ahead of our game plan.
And that content marketing works!
