When it comes to our own content marketing I am a victim of my own success. When launching the Workshop Media website I outlined that I would provide daily posts just to share with you some of the interesting things that have been going on at Workshop Media HQ.
The last week has been full of phone calls, emails and work. Which means my daily posts have slipped a little.
This got me thinking about the effect of reality when it meets your content marketing plans.
The importance of daily updates for content marketing
It is well established that posting daily does you the world of good for your blog
1. Daily posts improves your website rankings
2. Daily posts attract returning visitors to your site on a daily basis
3. Daily posts increase the chances of engagement with visitors
For me, I wanted to share some of the things I’m interested in and get excited about, mixing the strategic content marketing with a bit of personality and point of view.
Its not the end of the world that I haven’t posted (in fact statistically there have been more views when I haven’t 🙂 ) but it is something I’m going to address. As I see it I have two options:
1. Work a day or two in advance and schedule my posts as I do with the strategic content
This isn’t my favourite option by a long shot as it reduces spontaneity and removes the option of reacting to daily events.
2. Apply the age old maxim of ‘sod it’
Reality bites but it is a fact of life. Sometimes you can’t do what you planned and you have to live with it. I would still try to post daily but I’m not going to lose any beauty sleep over it.
I have deliberately not considered the option of increasing the time spent writing the blogs as I feel this would be counter productive (especially if visitors want less of my content and more of the strategic stuff).
Opinions more than welcome in the comments below 🙂
