Introducing Jon Bailey: The New Boy
I’m Jon Bailey, the new boy. I’ve been working with the Workshop crew for a few months now but I’ve known them for several years. Despite this, they’ve let me off the leash and onto “teh Interwebz”.
They may regret this decision.
So, what is my background? Well, I spent a decade after my education came to a crashing halt at 18 (this was the result of my being a stereotypical 18 year old) working in an office environment. I dealt with customers, middle management and all the joys that they bring to the world. I left this environment in my late twenties and went back into education, retraining to be an English teacher, eventually teaching in secondary schools in a few socio-economically deprived areas of Birmingham. That lasted less than seven years.
I am fiercely intelligent, devastatingly handsome, a Nobel laureate and a pathological liar. I am a bundle of poorly-formed opinions and left-wing biases bound together by a cloud of misdirected rage. I believe in equality, rationalism, humanitarianism and the power of the human spirit to go beyond our inherent weaknesses and usher in a golden age of fairness, achievement and discovery. I also believe that this is highly unlikely.
My blog posts will be random and inspired by whatever is happening in the world and in my head at any given moment. They will probably be controversial (how controversial depends on who reads if before it gets posted) and will hopefully start some interesting conversations, so if you disagree with anything I say, and you probably will, please comment with your views. I love being proved wrong. No, really.
